Geovette Washington is a commercial litigator who represents London Market insurers and reinsurers, corporations, partnerships, non-profit organizations, and individuals in disputes that are of vital importance to the parties involved.  Clients rely on Ms. Washington to provide sound advice and measured judgment in complex litigation matters.

Over the past ten years, Ms. Washington has represented the London Insurance Market in numerous complex coverage disputes with major industrial concerns.  She has successfully resolved many of these disputes through negotiation and still others through litigation.  In 2003, she successfully argued before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit an appeal addressing the availability of coverage under commercial general liability policies for antitrust claims and jurisdiction under the Foreign Sovereign Immunities Act.

Companies, partnerships, non-profit organizations, and individuals call upon Ms. Washington for advice and counseling in employment matters.  Relying on her negotiation skills, she has successfully resolved dozens of these disputes for her clients without resorting to litigation.

Prior to joining the firm, Ms. Washington was a Special Assistant to the Assistant Attorney General for the Office of Legal Counsel in the United States Department of Justice (“OLC”) during the Clinton Administration.  During that time, she prepared legal opinions on constitutional issues and to resolve interagency disputes.  In 2000, she was reunited with several of her former OLC colleagues as part of the team of lawyers who represented Vice President Gore in the litigation concerning the Florida vote count in the 2000 election.
